I recently learned that “shelf stable milk” is a big need, because of cooking, kids’ cereal, and nutrition. Powered milk, UHT milk in cartons, canned milk — all needed.

6/ Search for “food bank” + the name of your own county. (Mine serves 4 counties, mostly rural.) Research it, please! It’s possible some evil scammers are appearing during this crisis. Some websites lead to a lot of fake links.

5/ If you’re able to volunteer at your local food bank, you will learn firsthand how they operate. I am just now learning about this myself. With the help of volunteers, the food bank is able to process massive quantities of food with a low amount of waste!

4/ FOOD BANK is the big distribution center, getting the biggest discounts, serving the most local organizations that hand out food. FOOD PANTRY is more likely a smaller outfit that interacts directly with people in need. Donations to a FOOD BANK will buy more food!
