It turns out that when you remove costly parking requirements and public review, affordable housing is much cheaper to build! Normally a 44-unit affordable project would require a LIHTC award and public subsidy, but with ED1, this project didn't need that financing. 2/4

Clean up about how/when/whether an applicant submitted a complete pre application, clarifications about 90 day deadline to submit a complete application, remove open ended CEQA condition language in HAA, clarify SB 330 can be submitted at anytime and applicants can /selectively opt into better stds

Great article. It also often strikes me how much public opinion on ADUs has shifted over time. It was treated with terror by many neighborhoods and now it’s probably the most popular recent housing reform (eg link). I’d hope this would help bolster the local advocacy ST supports.
