I understand that, and we need to try to retain our retirement population. I do know people who are moving back to NY though because the grass wasn’t greener in the “lower cost of living states” like they thought it would be once everything is factored in. Also, natural disasters are not bad here. 🥴

I could write a book based on rural/rust belt culture economics and why and how we got here but it isn’t as straight forward as people assume. Also, people vote against their own interests all the time. Sadly.

Upstate (rural) has been voting Republican for a very long time, not just because Trump was on the ticket. There are several counties that feel like living in an alternate universe, I know because I live in one.

I didn’t leave because of the Republican Party, I left because if the ineffectiveness of the Democrats. Maybe for once they can be accountable just as much for getting the country here, they are not innocent bystanders. Prime example, their suppression of people like AOC and Bernie…
