One of the best things about Amazon's The Rings of Power is its soundtrack by @bearmccreary.bsky.social. I'm so thrilled this record was recently added to my collection, and proudly stands next to Season One soundtrack.

December was a very rough month for me, so I found comfort in the lack of compromises and some throwbacks.

Last month in music. November has come and go, and it was a wicked month. A lot of classics, soundtracks, and some metal and free jazz to cool down after some very hard days at work.

As some of you might know, besides studying popular music, I love video games as a cultural form. Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of my favs, which latest incarnation was released, and even though its state is far from perfect, I'm obsessed. This is not just a game, this is an homage to our planet.

There are albums that are something more than just albums. They tell stories. They are soundtracks to our lives. They cause this magical sensation that transport you to a very specific emotional space. Braid's soundtrack is one of those LPs, and I'm so glad I added it to my record collection today.

2025 looks promising. It embodies what I enjoy the most about experiencing music live. Those gigs will be unique on their own, with different audiences, demographics, styles, and memories. And every time I have such an eclectic experience, I reassure myself of the idea of music as a uniting force.

I write and teach about everything related to American identity, the history of popular music, contemporary US, American studies methodology, pop-cultural discourse, and others. Here's the schedule of my classes this semester for reference. If you're interested in collaborating, I'm here for you!

Hi all! I think a short introduction is in place. I'm a popular music and American studies scholar, so if you're into music or trying to understand what's happening in the US, I'm here. Also, I'm a steady provider of pop cultural analyses, video-game content, and LotR-related memes. You're welcome.

I came across this post, and it reminded me that it's important to make a certain distinction. If you like something, it doesn't make it the best overall; it's best for you. The quality of a performance and its historical or cultural significance are a completely different story.

Guess who's going to the movie theater to sing Defying Gravity on a day of the picture's world release day.
