Very true, unfortunately, but there are always positives. This is more than likely going to create two or more nations out of the USA. Liberal Americans and MAGA culture will come to terms with incompatibility.

Agreed! It does make me reflect on the 'displaced americans' that would be more at home in Canada or Europe. They're a sizeable minority to be poached that would integrate fairly quickly and contribute. Either way, it will be interesting to see what develops in EU / Canadian relations ❤️ 🇪🇺 🇨🇦.

(2) I look forward to a nice return holiday in Canada to show support beyond buying what's available here. Also a way to see anyone from the USA who cannot travel to Europe to visit me.

(1) Watched the acceptance speech live here last night as it thankfully wasn't too late here. Just good vibes all around with Carney. I hope he does hold a snap election! BTW, Chrétien was also spot on.

Please don’t try and be something that you’re not. Simply be polite and frank about your opinions as a disgruntled American when the opportunity presents itself to discuss it. The majority of people here fully understand America is divided. Set a good example and be a shining ambassador!

It is nice to see some in the USA taking interest in EU politics aside from meddling. What would be more encouraging would be for the sane population there to take whatever action is necessary to disarm MAGA, understanding the task will be a lifelong effort.

As you well know, Fanta is a symptom of an illness, as was Hitler and Mussolini. Those that supported them did not magically go away after the war. Younger people here forget that, and the elders are always quick to tell stories about the horrors they encountered during the war and resistance.

Yes, the problems there go deeper, culturally speaking, and this is arguably why the US had a civil war to begin with. That is another issue to sort out, but for now, you have a grease fire becoming a house fire. Nothing has been done. No strikes, no protests, nothing. You have to fight back!

Actually, a coalition is all but set in the Bundestag as SPD hold more than enough seats. The question is whether Greens will get on board, and if so, their position. On the larger scale, this result will put wind in the sails of sanity in Bruxelles / Strasbourg.

Correct. Merz will have to be extremely effective to stave off AfD. His decisiveness on the USA will hopefully set an example in the EU at large.
