Also, I’ve found I can’t focus on an audiobook unless I bump up the speed to about 1.3x, because audiobooks usually narrate a lot slower than my reading pace.

I used to be this way too. I started consuming nonfiction audiobooks the couple of years, and this year I have been adding in some fiction. To me personally, listening seems like a muscle that gets stronger the more I use it. Now I can switch back and forth from reading to listening pretty easily.
