Air traffic controller in LA. Reads but rarely posts
Always appreciate hearing from others! Our actual traffic numbers are usually low 5 digits. Covid drop off now consistently higher than it’s ever been. Used to it now, but working 6 days 10 hours gets tiring. Slow times are boring but not as often! Love the career, but wouldn’t recommend it either!

ZLA. Our equipment is “up to the task,” but still outdated compared to what the vast majority of the rest of world uses. Example Mode S. I’ve only been in for 11 years so not nearly as long as some, but comparing traffic numbers we are now higher than anytime in ZLAs history. Constantly record days

It is outdated, but you’re right in that that is such a small issue. Give us more (quality) controllers. We are severely understaffed basically every where. That doesn’t fix all the issues, but it sure would fix the vast majority of them.
