I code for Apple platforms, build things that move and optionally push melted plastic through a hole. I like Star Treks and Missions Impossible. I made Headlines RSS for iOS (https://macbirdie.net/headlines). Señor iOS dev at @AppUnite.
One issue is that there are no through-hole anchors so thinking of maybe running a thin wire through the existing holes and soldering it solid in order to wrap the port from above to provide additional mechanical support.

Shame that moderation features on this network are weaponised in such a way.

That’s the thing - they don’t want you to watch what YOU want - they want you to watch what THEY want.

Saying all that pains me because working with Apple tech has been, for over 15 years, putting food on my table, roof over my head for me, my wife and a couple of awesome kids, who I train to be proper nerds with an eye for good design, which I think sums up the Apple of yore well.

If webOS mobile devices were still a thing, and not at all associated with hp (eww), I think I'd be moving in this direction.

Samsung had something good going for them with Tizen years ago, but it's Samsung - they blew it.

Now it seems all that is fading away to be replaced by services people and bean counters.

The tech side is still better than having to dabble in a Java stack or, $DEITY forbid, Dart, but the non-tech side is slowly eating at me.

And I think most of the great software-hardware stack comes from the time where tech people were in the leadership positions, enabled by Jobs' insanely good feel for what makes a good product (most of the time), i.e. NeXT.

The optical disc drive was dirty, had a stuck screw right inside the mechanism - that is now handled. Given that most of the screws are severely stripped, this console must’ve taken a lot of abuse by the previous owner/maintainer. Ouchie. You’re in good hands now, buddy.

Yeah, learned about the cabbage and mushroom pierogies yesterday. They’re fine, I guess. Blueberry ones are awesome too!
