Just a bird, and you can't prove I'm not.
And characters who fuck up for reasons I can understand? That's delicious. That's fun as hell. "Bad" guys with worldviews I hate but understand? "Good" guys who stumble and fall flat on their faces? Vanilla guys who ping pong around making the choices that make sense in the moment?
Hell yeah.

Maybe I'm just a weirdo, but I don't really give a shit if the things the characters did were right or wrong. Like, those little dudes are not real. I literally only care if what the characters did was interesting.

People who never fuck up are boring and not worth writing about.

The "standard pickup truck" of today probably would've required a Class C license to operate 50 years ago. My 14yo Dakota "mini-truck" is a s big as my "full-size" 1992 F-150 was.

Hey, I'll write Jayvik for any old reason. This seems cool!

I'm not sure I believe that a person's sincere discomfort with depictions of power exchange is the same as a legitimate concern. Squick is a great reason not to read something, but a poor reason to tell others not to read or write it.

And by the same token, it should be unethical to depict Viktor as a sub, because he has a disability, and disabled people are also systemically deprived of power.

Any depiction of power exchange becomes "problematic" when viewed through this lens.

A person with a sincere belief that it's unethical to depict Jayce as a pup would necessarily have to find it unethical to depict him as a sub at all, though, wouldn't they? Because if we flatten all power exchange to the D/s aesthetic in the scene, then he's just a brown man deprived of power.

I feel like I'm missing something— what's wrong with petplay?
