Instagram is having people auto follow Vance's vp account and you're on there. I've had to unfollow twice today

B/c meta before TikTok was selling our data to china, which may play a role in why Zuckerberg lobbied so much for a TikTok ban. Also apps like shien and temu would be banned

US viewership only makes up like 10% of their base, it wouldn't make sense for them to sell. TikTok jumped through every hoop the US asked. All of the data from TikTok runs through servers in Texas. If this was about national security there would be rules for all platforms.

It also was a way we could support each-other even if our funds were low. If someone had something awful happen like a house burning down and they were dropped from insurance, if people got them to 10k we could play their videos on loop to raise money for them.

Once anyone got over 10k viewers they would start getting paid for views. This changed the game for a lot of people like small businesses, artist, musicians, people with disabilities. It was truly the people's app b/c it valued what people liked over paid ads

TikTok's algorithm was unlike any other social media site, it prioritized what people on the app liked over over paid content. Instagram you have to pay for ads, tiktok if people liked something the alg. Would send them more things like that. It made it so small accounts could grow rapidly & (pt1)

The app generated $24.2 billion dollars to US economy last year, supports 224,000 jobs a lot of them being small businesses. Not just young people on the app. Parents can can keep kids off with boundaries, but us adults had free speech stripped and our livelihoods impacted.
