It's not Wednesday but here's a WiP.

Ive not been writing the past couple weeks because of a combination of heat and depression. But today is better so today gets words.
The jawbone that had given her comfort during her travels sat on the table by the stairs. It was habit that had her reaching for it and slipping it over her head without another thought. She pulled at it, wondering how much force it might take to stress the leather band until the fibers snapped and she could throw the bone out the window until it landed in the snow. The teeth dug into her palm until the skin broke and her blood smeared against the fangs. She barely felt it in her anger but gave up trying to tear it from her neck. It reminded her of his absence when it bounced against her chest with every step she took down the stairs like a cruel heart beat.
