The first tea rose of the season. The winds have been wicked and that can't have speeded things up.

It's frost weather right now in the southern hemisphere, but here are dahlias from last summer

Our lovely Miss Calico went missing, and we have given her up for lost. But here is our new cat Tabby Little, who isn't a replacement but is a comfort.
#caturday which is technically past in NZ but what the hey.

The Johnstown Flood is one of my Roman Empires. I read a Readers Digest Condensed version of McCullough's history when I was about eleven and when I travelled to the US in 2010, this was a bucket list event.

Lastly, hummingbirds at a forestry information centre on the way. As I explained to the bemused guy at the centre, New Zealand can provide me with volcanoes but it doesn't have hummingbirds.

A view of the Toutle river on our way.

In 2016 I visited the US and friends were kind enough to take me to the mountain. It was June but the weather was terrible. I joked that a Kiwi I was used to terrible weather in June. The clouds were coming down and fifteen minutes later we wouldn't have seen the mountain at all.

Do you know who the cover artist is? As a New Zealander, the character absolutely references ta moko as part of their design.

A while ago a friend gave me a cat bed her animals didn't use. Little calico girl took to it with great enthusiasm and I took this pic to show my friend. #cat

The unmitigated gall of this man.

'Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven.'

I'm as secular as can be these days, and my lapsed Catholic hackles still bristled. #nzpol

If you see this, and you're in the mood for this kind of thing, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery.

The Johnstown flood was an early interest of mine thanks to the Readers Digest Condensed version of McCullough's history. 2010 I crossed off a bucket list item with a visit to the town.

This is a picture of flowers that I love, and a bonus is that this picture was taken by a person that I love.

So again, doing actual gardening is a p.i.t.a. but when you get these results it does seem kinda worth it.

My son came home yesterday very smug that his sisters' silver princess actually sat on his lap and permitted cuddles. So far, I've had my wrist sniffed - but actual contact is still no go. She's the most crazily timid creature but we forgive her because she's so very pretty.

Gardening is work but it's nice to get the results. The alstromeria is going great. It's tough as old boots which it needs to be given my gardening skills. The other flowers are choisya, which is also tough as old boots.

I say in my bio that I'm a cat-lover so time to prove that with a picture of a cat I guess.
