Vihreäksi mainostettu LNG onkin paha ilmastolle. Nesteytetty maakaasu on fossiilinen polttoaine, ja se on metaania. Käytössä metaania pääsee helposti karkuun ilmakehään. Siksi LNG ei ole lainkaan sopiva siirtymäkauden polttoaine, niin kuin usein sanotaan. LNG:n käyttö lisääntyy nopeasti.
