tl;dr, Vougt has found a way to cut Medicare and Social Security, and blame it on Democrats.

It will probably work.

6. This ONLY works, though, if the programmers have VERY CLEAR specifications for what needs to be built

5. Musk knows from experience that the fastest way to get software built/fixed is to assign one or two extremely talented young programmers who have the stamina and focus to work 100-hour weeks for months at a stretch:

3. Prior to Jan 20, Vougt colluded with Musk to fix this problem, and made advance preparations

4. As soon as the administration took control, the plan went into effect

2. He observed that Trump's agenda was compromised in a series of debt ceiling negotiations by the payments prioritization problem, see explainer here:

Josh, with respect to the debt ceiling and the kids at Treasury, this is what is going on 🧵:

Swinging at every pitch is bad, though.

No, I was specifically referring to the penises.

There's a very significant difference in public perception between trans women who have undergone gender reassignment surgery and non-passing AGPs who self-ID into women-only spaces.

You may not make that distinction, but voters do.

//If you think that trans people are getting our rights ripped away "because the left went too far," you're a moron.//

Unhelpful framing.

I'm making the point that policies that enjoy popular support or acquiescence (legal recognition, employment protections, insurance coverage, etc.) can be jeopardized by zealous pursuit of policies that engender popular resistance.

Public policy comes from counting votes and declaring winners.
February 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM
It's pretty clear from polling that penises in women's changing rooms, trans women competing in contact sports, and taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgery for prisoners is too far.

No, I understand, your point is that elections don't matter because a Harris administration would have implemented the Family Research Council program anyway.
February 1, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Every left-wing vote Democrats pick up loses them two moderates.

That's just the math. There's no path to an electoral majority that goes through making leftists happy.

You can't win elections on left-wing policies when 51% of the population says they are not and have never been left-wing.

The Trump campaign ran this ad more than any other ad, because their polling told them it was the most effective at getting the votes they would need to do what they're doing now.

Sadly, nose-cutting face-spiters are neither numerous nor reliable enough to form the foundation of a governing coalition.

I don't understand why.

True, Harris did bring in the crucial California centrist voters who would otherwise have tipped the state for Trump in the electoral college.

Maybe she would have been picked on her merits even if Clyburn hadn't demanded a Black female.

But we'll never know and it will always be an asterisk.
July 21, 2024 at 8:40 PM
Well, that is a problem with DEI, isn't it?

Is Harris VP because Rep. Jim Clyburn told Biden that a condition of his endorsement (which saved Biden's presidential bid) was that he had to pick a Black female running mate?

Or is Harris VP because she was the best available candidate at the time?
