Trying really hard to do social media without drama here. I'm a father. I cook, write code, brew beer, and play video games if I have the time.

Computers suck, but it's our fault.
I think it will improve things, especially with Android compatibility, but I don't expect things to get that much better.

Maybe more frequent Quest ports, which would be pretty great!

There aren't going to be a lot of new customers. Like I said, the VR market is pretty much saturated.

You mention people that use their Quest for PCVR, and I do see Valve converting them to the Steam Frame. In fact, I expect that to be the biggest customer base for the Frame.
November 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
They're competing for slim pickings in an already saturated market, for customers that would have to give up their library to switch.

I'm not saying the Frame is doomed, but manage your expectations. They're not competing with Meta. They're competing with Sony.

It's not so much price/quality as it is price/good enough. As long as it's good enough to play the three biggest games "good enough", the cheapest headset wins. That's the Quest 3S.

Valve cannot, and isn't trying to, compete with Meta.
November 20, 2025 at 1:06 AM
They would have to price it so low that they're losing money on each unit to even make a dent in Mesa. They're not going to do that.
November 20, 2025 at 12:43 AM
You're missing the most important factor: the percentage of people that just don't want to have anything to do with VR gaming. The market is saturated, and Meta did it selling their headsets at a loss. Valve can't compete with a $200 headset, no matter how good it is.
November 20, 2025 at 12:43 AM
I don't think the steam frame will be much different, regardless of pricing. It might sell a little better.
November 20, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Hell they released a new Half-Life game for VR and the majority of their customers were pissed off that they had to buy a VR headset to play it. Their response wasn't to get into VR, it was to mod the game so they didn't have to play it in VR.
November 20, 2025 at 12:31 AM
But they did all that, and it didn't move the needle at all. None of that would help today, either.
November 20, 2025 at 12:30 AM
I don't think that'll ever happen. Not in the steam frame's life cycle at least. Right now you have to launch VR games for meta if you want to make money, and there's no way valve is going to change that with the steam frame.

Think less Quest, more PSVR2.
November 20, 2025 at 12:29 AM
I'm not sure what kind of "commitment" valve could offer that would move the needle.
November 20, 2025 at 12:14 AM
Everyone that hasn't signed an exclusivity agreement is absolutely going to publish for multiple platforms. It's really the only way to make any money. I think the Frame could get on well in that space. Maybe SteamVR will get attention again.
November 20, 2025 at 12:14 AM
I doubt they ever will. They still need to sell games.

I hope steam frame is wildly successful and overtakes Quest. I don't believe that it will.

It'll still be successful though.

I've done it. It gets old fast.

They see their children as their property. I'm not worried about what my couch thinks of IKEA, either.

The computer gets to think. The toaster doesn't. The printer is on thin ice.
November 19, 2025 at 10:48 PM
I think you're thinking too far into it. Why does dog eat food? It's there. Why does dragon hoard wealth? It's there.

FX fighter was... OK. It was originally going to be an SNES game using the Super FX 2 chip (yay expensive cartridges that bring their own GPU!), but Nintendo backed out in favor of Killer Instinct.

Definitely the right move on Big N's part.

It was decent if you had a 3dfx card.

It's not just the legs that make no sense. Everything about humanoid robots is stupid.

If you're not allergic, peanut butter is a super food.
November 19, 2025 at 2:01 PM
That's the design they should have gone to in the first place.
November 19, 2025 at 1:53 PM
I'm in 100% agreement on the gerrymandering blowing up in their face, though. That could happen and would be hilarious.
November 19, 2025 at 1:24 PM
This is just a speed bump. Abbot will call an emergency legislative session to make up some new bullshit if he has to.
November 19, 2025 at 1:23 PM
I mean... I expected less from him, if I'm being honest.
