Contrary to popular belief Chamberlain wasn't simply naive, but received intel about the German military indicating that the UK's is no match for it, so he thought he had no choice. In truth, the intel was faulty: a leaked document on German divisions, but a lot of it still only existed on paper.

This was true at the onset of the full-scale war. Back then that Croatian pipeline made Hungary potentially more energy-independent than say Czechia. But Orbán CHOSE Russian dependence. Because he is a vassal, due to thick files Putin's FSB has on him & his criminal gang.

I think half of hese drone sightings are just normal stupid citizens flying drones without a permit, something no one cared about before but the military now being on alert.

You mean the Lyman axis.

Well yesterday the main opposition rally dwarfed that of Orbán's. They even wanted to prevent spectacular images by declaring a drone ban over the opposition rally, but someone made a good photo from the window of a landing commercial a plane.

The address has allusions to Hungary's current main opposition. Its leader is called Péter Magyar, Magyar (also our guy's nom de guerre) being "Hungarian" in Hungarian. And his party is named Tisza, which is also the name of the river he was referencing.

There is a much bigger pocket further south, which may or may not have re-connected with Russian-held territory. But with the resources freed up by the elimination of this pocket, I hope those can be forced to surrender, too.

Putin's KGB training is over-hyped. He was a low-level spook in East Germany where the Stasi made the KGB's job easy. There were plenty of much more accomplished KGB spies who never made it in politics. Putin as power player was shaped more by his role in the 1990s mafia politics of St. Petersburg.

"Those that enable him" is the key fact moderate people in the US & Europe should confront & accept. Trump himself is a disaster, but wouldn't be able to do any damage without amoral backers & voters, who have been like that before he entered politics. They all need to be removed from power.

At this stage in the war, this is not enough. They should aim for more & re-strike immediately after repairs.

Even if he would not benefit personally, this is naked colonialism.

They don't just spontaneously pop up, people need to actively participate in campaigns for them to really pop up.

If Russians still haven't figured that the guy is a con-man, them taking him would be a win for us.
June 24, 2025 at 5:58 PM
Indeed. For me, it was way earlier, now over a decade ago, when he talked about vacuum trains. I happen to know about trains & public transport and Musk was saying the stupidest shit I've heard, so when everyone else I knew & the media said he is a genius, I stayed away from his cars & rockets.
June 5, 2025 at 4:44 AM
Musk is wrong of course, or Ukraine would not need F-16 and would not have trouble with all the heavy winged bombs Russia lobs at the frontline.

She is no Soviet, she is a Republican.
April 8, 2025 at 4:44 AM
It's more devious than that. Orbán's power relies (in part) on illegal methods to find out who their likely voters are (by name) and mobilise them with targeted ads. These "polls" are the main method to find these likely voters.
March 30, 2025 at 10:05 AM
More like 99% to 1%, because people outside the Orbán cult know that this is a scam with a pre-determined result and will not participate.
March 30, 2025 at 10:03 AM
These postal "polls" are a regular measure of the Orbán regime, and their goal has nothing to do with the subject of the "poll": it is a census of supporters who can be mobilised before an election. It's gathering of non-anonymous data on voters and targeted get-out-the-vote, supposedly illegal.

I'd say peak USA was 11 Dec 2000, the day before Bush was selected President. It wasn't 9/11 but the reaction to it that accelerated the decline. It would have happened anyway because the rise of Bush & conservatives like him was structural and the more intelligent imperialists didn't see it coming.
March 1, 2025 at 8:24 AM
Nope. Conservative American minds have always been & are only focused on identifying the supposed strongman to follow and then follow him. Principles & standpoints and even narratives don't matter, they can be switched out in no time. They hated him but are now pro-Putin because Trump is.
March 1, 2025 at 8:17 AM
LOL, it did not start with Clinton. Every prior administration had its skeletons in the closet. The real change was with the Bush-Cheney admin who stopped hiding their imperial attitude towards "allies" even in public. But too many people wanted to forget that lesson when Obama came in.
March 1, 2025 at 8:13 AM
This is nothing new for them. You're too young to remember, but this was exactly the attitude of Republicans during the Bush administration, during the Iraq War, when even allies critical of invading on the basis of false claims of WMD were told off in this fashion. But look how that ended.
