Just another biological entity hurtling through cyberspace
Obviously the blueprints were captured when the ship was at warp speed, and we're looking at spacial distortion compared to the studio set in our frame of reference. Quick, math nerds, calculate the warp factor based on the difference! 🔭

I haven't really trusted Intel since their 8th Gen (still using a 6th Gen i7 Thinkpad with 0 issues). I do wish they would release an updated ComputeStick, mine struggles with the latest codecs such as AV1

I wonder if you're the same TruthPhoenix as on that other "elite" platform...if so, thank you for planting so many seeds of knowledge! I love these kinds of documentaries, it feels like real-life X-Files (but without the sexy FBI agents) 👽

If you have the storage, you can download huge data sets such as the entire Wikipedia or PubMed and index it at home. I use a discontinued but still highly functional free program called SearchEverything on a 200TB storage array that provides real-time results as you type

I consider that data "factual" in that the fiction was created originally by a human mind, instead of hallucinated by the LLM. For example recently I wanted a quote from Stephen King's Gunslinger series and couldn't find it with Google or ChatGPT, but I got my local LLM to recite it verbatim

1 belly-rub (ok), 2 belly-rub (ok), 3 belly-rub (space-time rip in the fabric of reality)

All LLMs are trained on factual databases, so the issue is the way they are trained - they are penalized when they don't know how to respond. So they guess (not unlike a child). You can train a local LLM to acknowledge it doesn't understand your question or know the answer (and help you find it).

I'd never remember how to spell or pronounce a name like Saskatchewan, but Sasschek is kinda catchy, maybe AI is onto something...

Same! Although if I can't sleep and get online in the wee hours, I have the added challenge of deciphering memes in foreign languages. It's cultural enrichment! 🇨🇦🇦🇺🇬🇧🇮🇪

Sounds like my kinda thought process. You can't say atheism without acknowledging the existence of theism.
June 4, 2025 at 2:13 AM
"philosopher atheists" does sound a bit pompous... not my cup of tea. My style would be more like "reflective atheist" because I think about what it means to me, and how it affects my life.

Ah, so you're in the process of transitioning towards atheism...bravo! If you're a reader, this article about the so-called "god module" in our brains contains links to some amazing books that explore the connection between religion and our minds: sinaiandsynapses.org/content/god-...
God-Circuits in the Brain? - Sinai and Synapses
Are we hard-wired to believe in God? This is an area of investigation that has been called by some “neurotheology.”
