The last train for today. I've been here once already, but now I'm homeward bound and will drive to Brugg. There, a colleague will take over.

Three different generations of Stadler EMUs currently in use. Left: KISS, built for the S-Bahn Zurich. Middle: New model FLIRT 3 (Traverso) ordered by SOB. Right: Old model FLIRT with special advertising livery. I drove the KISS to Olten and am quickly getting a coffee☕

And the second train is safely put away in the siding next to the first one. Now they wait until the afternoon when they're put back into service. I'm traveling back to Brugg to enjoy a quick break.

Shunting in this siding requires a lot of attention! All switches are set by hand, so they could all be set wrong. Also, the track where the train ends up is just as long as the train. Very careful shunting is required! Here, I've already prepared the switch for my next job.

Well, not much is happening.
I'm happily driving Dominoes on the S27 Service between Baden and Bad Zurzach. It's rainy so I am making sure, I'm on time, because I can't really make up much time with these train sets.

These two units are stored during the night in a siding and need to be shunted four times before they are on the right track. There, they get coupled with another unit, which becomes the lead unit.

Homeward bound with the newest EMU in the SBB fleet! From the siding in Bassersdorf I'll drive under the airport and under Zurich
back to Brugg where a colleague will take over.

The amazing Dekyr left me an awesome present in the driver's cab of the train he brought! Thank you so much! 🫂 Redbull doesn't just give you wings, it allows trains to run!
The KISS EMU he brought is now warming it's belly in the first sun rays of the day 🌄

for reference, my shift today started at 2.35am...
Well, I now made it to Aarau where I took over and prepared a train which will become the second S12 service in the morning to Schaffhausen. I'll drive empty to Brugg and then switch on the lights for the passengers

As a small dessert, I get to enjoy the S27 service to Bad Zurzach and back, before my shift ends for today. Here the small Domino unit is ready for departure in Bad Zurzach.

Time to say goodbye to this FLIRT EMU and once again go snoozing for a bit. Shifts, where you don't really do a whole bunch are often even more exhausting 😴

Just had a long break and got to snooze a bit 💤
On my way to Langenthal now with the S23 service.

And by that I mean cleaning both front windows with the brooms and water buckets that stand in the shunting yards for such purposes. Some even have a little bottle of detergent you can add for the extra cleanliness 😊

The last train for today! But I will take care of it for the next three hours.
To the very left the S12 service to Winterthur and back to Brugg.

The drive to SS was quite challenging because the tracks were still damp from yesterday's rain. Made it in time though. Got rewarded with a beautiful sunrise along the way which is always the best part of my job! 🌄

I really do enjoy driving in the rain and today certainly provides enough bad weather to REALLY enjoy it.
Now I'm in Brugg with the S29 Service to Sursee!
