hell yea!!!!!!! so excited to know!!! i’m really into researching fan literature & honestly i love how everyone is just gay asf in the most experimental ways

also this is very important because of HOW NEWS ARE REPORTED… to compare how the same event is reported in different countries, or just different time periods as well… it’s a really good way of learning about media manipulation, and to see through political interests

it’s a viscerally direct way of understanding a time period - it’s visual! it even could have sound depending on the time! it’s right there! & it’s a magical way of opening a gate to a time periods framework
but if we don’t archive it… it’s lost forever

a very good example is tv; like, a huge amount of our current culture is so bc of… tv programmes of all kinds! it puts everything into a cultural context when you’re studying an era where tv existed- it’s how the general population was informed of things! (apart from text media) &

don’t get me wrong! not saying this in a “people of the past were stupid” way, but in a knowledge is important way! and now we have the means to record it and archive it sooooooo efficiently, it’s a shame we don’t do!
