I'm really struggling to answer the question as it is. Plenty have taken over as PM and then gone to an election, but for both becoming and stopping because of a general election, I'm genuinely not sure.

I'm involved with Raynet in Cambridgeshire. Personally, I believe it isn't particularly relevant for emergencies. But there is value in supporting local events (the primary reason I'm involved) and also considering preparedness for things like larger power cuts. Others in the group would disagree.

It's getting quite popular in the SOTA community too because the trackers are so lightweight. The Lake District and Snowdonia both have digipeaters on hilltops.

Assuming you mean the white bar across the top it's some plastic for aerodynamics protecting the solar panel behind it.
