Ole Miss dad; CA via IL; turns things off and on for a living; likes taking pix; slow runner.
Sorry today has been a challenge. I gave up FB as it used to bum me out seeing friends constantly posting fun places they were going to.

I took a photo today on our sad flight home after the Fiesta Bowl. This is Moss Landing, CA, which is between Monterey and Santa Cruz.

Representing the Pete Fleet!
I was worried we wouldn't find a coach until next year but getting Pete and most of the coaching staff to stay is great.

Once the dust settles, can the Caltrain PIO explain what is going on? There have been problems all this week and I have received a dozen SMS messages just in the last 90 minutes.

She is thinking after what happened in Utah that security is going tighter than usual. She also needs to get from campus to her apartment (by the hospital) then back to the square. I think she anticipates traffic will be like the LSU game, which was horrible.

My daughter is pissed about this. It’s going to make getting to class and then to work (off the square) a nightmare. And for what?

I was floored at how bad Manifest Destiny was. HS history was like “white people moved West”, ignoring the whole genocide part of the story.

Took an ethnics studies (US) class over the summer. Felt like after each chapter I would think “that was horrible but hopefully we turn things around next chapter” only to find things continued to be horrible.

LA has nothing on Memphis, and driving in LA can be crazy. Anytime I have to drive in Memphis I feel like I am more focused on my rear view mirrors than what is ahead of me.

The ESPN coverage is worlds better than when Bundesliga was on Fox. Not just the announcers but also the streaming. Only (understandable) downside is ESPN+ is USA only and I couldn’t access while on vacation in Paris.

The closest I have come to camping is KOA. I am a wimp and need showers.

This is an American problem and we shouldn’t be looking elsewhere for help.
As someone who works in the public sector, I am concerned about how this plays out.

I am lucky enough to live in a hilly area, but finding some hills is great exercise. With my usual neighborhood run I can go with something flat but if I want a challenge I just change my route slightly and get a good lung workout in.

Knowing who that will trigger makes me happy. (The Col. Reb in drag, that is).

Honest question: Does this bill threaten things like UM’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture? I ask because I feel it is an important program, enough so when asked by UM for a donation I earmarked it for this program.

My daughter was upset last night. I had told her that Jaxson was probably going in the 3rd and maybe the 49ers pick him up to back up Brock. (she likes our local team) Happy for him anyhow.
HYDR!

I have a Canon inkjet printer here at work. I used this cardstock to print nameplates for employees. Worked great but it's not super stiff. (feels a bit like 3"x5" note cards)

California may be blue a good portion of the coast but the rest of it is very red. I sure there are better, safer places to travel than here right now.

Thank you for sharing this bit of history. I picture my then 15 year old grandfather listening to the game on his crystal radio from his home in Chicago Heights. He loved working on radios and loved the Cubs.

To further muddy the waters (see what I did?), Silver Lake is a neighborhood in LA. There is also a Silver Lake, south of Lake Tahoe. California is goofy that way.
When I moved to SF, I lived in the Richmond. There is also a Richmond, CA across the Bay.

That sucks. Which neighborhood? I have been known to spend too much time checking out houses in Jackson on realtor.com . Love the houses around Belhaven but would be happy in an older single story with nice wood floors and lots of light.

I feel for the Rivercats. I haven't seen the schedule, but am guessing they will have day games in summer, which is going to suck. Even night games there are hot.

Agree they should have left the name (and legacy) in Oakland.

Lyin' Eyes is painful but Witchy Woman is like fingernails on a blackboard for me.

If you are still a fan after Theo gutted the team, you're good.
I became a fan after my grandparents took me to Wrigley in 1973. It was magical.
