completely agree w ur first sentence!! but i don’t think u don’t have to be A Racist to accidentally do racism. like being a lil lazy or incurious doesn’t make them racist, but dismissing the work of a pulitzer prize winning black artist bc they didnt feel like engaging with it,,, kinda does

i hear u but the end result is the same. jus bc they have (what u believe is) a valid reason for not putting the work in, they’re still unable and (by ur admission) unwilling to understand black art.

this feels like a gross misinterpretation of what they were saying. it’s not “everyone who doesn’t get it is racist”, it’s “engaging w this art requires u to work a bit to understand what he’s saying and you don’t want to do that”
