Hi! 👋

I’m Lindsey! Born + raised in rural MO. I worked for Congressman Ike Skelton, State Rep. Aull, State Rep. Ellinger, AG Nixon and Senator McCaskill before graduating from Harvard Law School. I ran in MO-04 in 2020 while my husband was deployed. Now I share legal insights from a red state. 🤓

AOC: The math is not adding up. Their claim is that one million undocumented people are on Medicaid. So why are they trying to cut 13.7 million Americans off their healthcare?

In Henry VI, Part II, Dick the Butcher famously proclaims that, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”

Not because, as contemporary uses would have you believe, that everyone hates those educated in the law, but that lawyers must be removed for tyranny to exist.

The experience of finding my people over here on the Blewskee has been like tracking y’all down at the State Fair.

Some of you are walking about the Coliseum and others over at the MEC while a few of ya got distracted at the grandstand and ended up at the Bud tent on your way to the carnival.

The work to win back the House and Senate in 2026 starts now. And it happens every single day.

The thing is—and what so many paid operatives condescendingly dismiss—is that to community build in a way that is effective and useful and long-lasting requires a 365-day, 50 state effort.

Some of y’all are looking left to right, trying to find the perfect spot to reach folks, when what you need is to talk about the ladder that folks at the top keep knocking outta the way so no one else can climb up.

Let me tell you a secret about how you, as one, individual person, can have an impact on your Republican Senator or Representative.

Three steps.

Let’s go.

How about this.

If you wanna be DNC Chair you publish a 50-state plan.

I want to know how you intend to make progress in every single town in America. I don’t want to hear that red states + counties like mine are “too far gone.”

Allowing the autocracy here to spread is why we’re in this mess.

I really adore Conan O’Brien.

Drinking Game!

One shot of Tennessee Whiskey each time this guy ⬇️ says “bureaucracy” because he wants to call public schools bad but lacks specific reasons why + wants to use one of those coded words for “government is bad except for when I do it.”
We speak fluent @GovBillLee so let us translate: Like with Medicaid, he wants that sweet federal💰we get ($1.6 BILLION) but without the rules so they can do what they want, steer it to allies (Vouchers, charters, etc.) at the expense of those it’s for. www.wkrn.com/news/tenness...

New Rule: If you can’t pass the character & fitness to be admitted to a state bar, you don’t get to be the Attorney General of the United Stares.

So I’ve been digging into the Tennessee Constitution. I figured, “Hey, if Missouri can expand Medicaid and legalize marijuana and increase minimum wage and protect women’s autonomy, why not Tennessee too?”

Do y’all know how difficult it is to amend its constitution?

At any point in time, the future Republican-controlled Senate and House can put a stop to Trump’s autocratic rise.

I refuse to ignore that reality.

Do I think they will act? No.

But it is their responsibility.

They will swear an oath to the Constitution.

They shouldn’t be given a pass.

We’re in our “use high federal offices to avoid prison” era.

This is a thread I intended to write last Tuesday, but I couldn’t quite get the words right then.

On Election Day, I spent twelve hours handling requests across Missouri from voters who had questions about casting their ballot.

And I left that work feeling optimistic.

Right now, journalists should be making calls to Governors in red states asking them whether they will bow to Trump should he give the order for their National Guard to invade blue states.

No lie. One of my favorite things about this app is the feeling that I can write and shards nerdy long threads about Missouri while *also* celebrating and connecting with my children’s writing community and I love that.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

To the dad who’s a real life action hero to our kids—

To the friend who talks LOTR + military history with equal ease—

To the partner who supports me in everything—

We honor you today.

Happy Veterans Day.

Thank you to all who have served + sacrificed.

May we be worthy of it.

I’ll be honest. Still figuring this place out. But I can already see a marked improvement in the quality of posts across my feed. It’s people and projects and groups I actually follow and want to stay updated on.
