For years, I have only ever been behind the camera, photographing love and war, and how they collide.

Sonya's brain tumour treatment was delayed due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Her cancer spread & she passed away in August - aged 6.
TIME selected this photo as one of 2024’s top 100 photos.
A fitting honour for such a brave little girl.
