If we are only teaching dates & facts in history, we are failing our students. I once had a history teacher brag over how his students could recite tons of dates/facts, but those same students couldn’t tell me why the Treaty of Versailles that ended WWI led to the start of WWII. My students could.

As a historian & former history teacher, it’s crystal clear that the heavy focus on STEM & the abysmal decline in both history & civics education on top of history & English classes focusing more on teaching the tests than critical thinking skills are huge factors in why we are where we are now.

I started putting mine up the weekend after the election because I desperately needed some brilliantly-lighted joy & sparkle in my life. Won’t lie, it did slightly improve my mood!

Nothing else makes driving at night so much FUN! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😆

Every time I hear someone say “no one wants to work anymore,” my response is: “let’s be honest, none of us WANT to work, we just have to so we can pay bills & eat.” The number of boomers who reluctantly agree I have a point is pretty hilarious!
