May his legacy be a challenge, not a memorial. May we carry forward the insistence that power must be accountable, that the margins must be heard, that change is neither easy nor inevitable, but it is possible.

Rest in power, Baba Raila. 🇰🇪

But beyond politics: let us remember the human behind the legend , the father, friend, strategist, dreamer. Kenya got a better soul because he lived.

Today, Kenya and Africa mourn the loss of one of its fiercest advocates for democracy. Raila Odinga has passed away at the age of 80.

Facts 👏🏾 Kenya isn’t just about savanna safaris. Me I recently discovered Ragia Forest in the Aberdares, Great alternative weekend escape , bamboo tunnels at 2,500m, hidden waterfalls, streams, and that crisp mountain air, the sounds! it was a whole experience. Same country, totally different vibe 🇰🇪

8/ The two nations have gone to war over who controls the sacred river , The Egyptian–Ethiopian War occurred from 1874 to 1876. It was fought between the Ethiopian Empire and the Khedivate of Egypt. Primarily driven by Egypt's ambitions to expand its territory and control over the Nile region.

5/ Funny thing is, Egypt already built its own mega-dam in the 1960s. The Aswan High Dam drowned an estimated hundred thousand Nubians and their villages & reshaped the river permanently. Back then? They bragged, celebrated and didn't care about the millions of lives affected and effected by them.

4/ And that’s exactly why Egypt is furious.
The Nile has always been their crown.
Now Ethiopia dares to touch it, funded not by elites, but by millions of ordinary citizens.

2/ The thing is Ethiopia didn’t just build a dam. Its people built it.Teachers gave salaries. Farmers bought bonds. Students skipped meals. This dam is stitched together with sacrifice.

To Kenya’s leaders:
You are not feared. You are being exposed daily.
To Kenya’s youth:
You are not alone. You are the pulse.
If the people stand, the party is over.

But something is different this time.
This generation is not bound by tribe or fear.
They are united by pain, truth, and purpose.

The blood spilled has no tribe. No religion. No party.
This is not politics. This is survival.

And as the bodies piled up, Raila Odinga, long seen as the voice of democracy, called for another “dialogue” at Bomas with President Ruto. Not surprising he is the master of handshakes Not justice. Not reform.
Dialogue for self preservation.

Same betrayal witnessed for 30 years

It's reported that At least 35 young people were killed. Some were shot at close range. One was 12 years old killed by a stray bullet. Another died in front of Magunas Supermarket.

In July 2025, during the Saba Saba protests, Kenyan Gen Z took to the streets.
They marched peacefully against police brutality, government corruption, high cost of living, and a broken electoral system.

They were met with bullets

Kenya’s Gen Z rose up for justice. The state answered with bullets.

So… what exactly is happening in Kenya?
Why are youth being killed in the streets?
Why is the world so quiet?

Here’s what you need to know. 🧵

🇰🇪 What’s happening in Kenya isn’t just protest!
It’s a cry for dignity.
A teacher dies in police custody. A year since 60+ were killed for opposing unjust taxes.
Today, youth were back in the streets mourning, marching, risking bullets for a future worth living.

Did you know? Male lions are called the King of the Jungle because they’re at the top of the food chain—but they’re also giant lazy cats! These royal nappers can sleep up to 20 hours a day to save energy for hunting and fights. #LionLife #BigCatNaps

In the hills of Taita Taveta, there's a small, melodious bird| African Taita Thrush. Its stunning blue-gray plumage helps it blend seamlessly with the surroundings, making it incredibly hard to spot. Seeing this rare bird is a spark of good luck. As is found only in Kenya, a wonder of Taita Hills.

Jackson's Hornbill endemic to the montane forests of the eastern highlands of Kenya has a fascinating behavior where the female seals herself inside a tree cavity to incubate the eggs, while the male feeds her through a small opening. This helps protect the eggs and shows their remarkable bond.

Baby lions, called cubs, are born with spotted coats that help camouflage them in grass and dense vegetation. The spots fade as they grow older. Cubs also rely on communal care, with lionesses in the pride nursing and protecting each other’s young, a rare trait in big cats.

Big fives of Kenya.
