25.11.25: sci-fi tape thing

First image with the new twice-weekly format! Also the video version (in the Tumblr version linked in the reply) makes the weird effect on the rectangles animate.

Also I imagine the decoded video looking kinda like this (original image is a Beamng screenshot I took ages ago):

Fictional analogue media format, called "Sheetscan"! It uses sheets with patterns on them, which can be decoded into video... somehow. And with no sound.

An attempt at recreating the malformed look of AI-generated text, I guess.

No generative AI was used in this post. I will never use generative AI in any of my work.

20.11.25: USB stick

Starting from today, I'm changing how I do these things in two ways. The images will be their own posts rather than part of a thread, and I will only post them every Tuesday and Thursday (since making these was taking up way too much of my time).

19.11.25: 2000s handheld

The sky for this one is an image, rendered in Cycles using a panoramic camera (which is also how I do environment maps when I use those).

18.11.25: alarm clock

I would have done a proper 7-segment display, but I. Couldn't be bothered.

Table :)

So I noticed something funny about the "snap to vertex" icon in Blender...

16.11.25: Lego Alien Conquest gun

This model was inspired by the worldmodels in Half-Life, specifically the Magnum and Shotgun.

An experiment with making a first-person viewmodel animation, that ended up way more retro-looking than I intended, mostly because I found a Reddit post that explained how to do vertex wobble (the person who made the post also made a plugin that. I might get)

15.11.25: '80s-inspired videophone

Now we're up to date! This is, at time of writing, the most recent of these. This is probably the best one I've done so far in my opinion, and I'm very proud of it, even if the scale is a bit off.

14.11.25: hologram projector and PDA 2

Again, I missed two days in a row, so for this day I made two things.

11.11.25: drink machine

"Dune Zest" is an injoke I have with my brother. Also the day after this I got distracted building an off-brand Lego set, and the day after *that* I was violently ill, so I missed two days.

10.11.25: old TV

I used a lot of neat techniques for this one, including making the image (and video) render at a lower resolution than the actual image size as set in Blender. Also, any polygons not visible in the turnaround video were removed for added authenticity to the aesthetic.

09.11.25: phones

I was at a wedding on the 8th, so I couldn't do a model then. To make up for it, I made a model with four different texture variants.

07.11.25: THE AMULET

I had artist's block so I made a magic amulet. The reflection effect is some Blender magic that I can't explain within Bluesky's character limit.

06.11.25: cursed childrens' handheld

This was a fun one! Also the first (and so far only) part of this series to use Blender Cycles for the final render.

05.11.25: microcomputer

This one is weird...

04.11.25: flip-phone

Purple flip-phone. A test for using DXT compression on textures.

03.11.25: computer

Some kind of computer that ended up a lot more retrofuturistic than I was intending. Technically from the 4th, but I made it on the 3rd so. Yeah

02.11.25: sci-fi PDA

A Doom 3-inspired PDA.
