Never dreamed I’d have to spend my retirement years fighting the patriarchy and standing up for basic ethics.

One could save this picture and post it in comments whever the White House or the current occupant of the Oval Office posts. Or one could post it and tag one’s elected representatives who support that monstrous pedophile/crook/conman/dictator wannabe.

The other example was in, I think, 2000. Two Israeli soldiers took a wrong turn. In Ramallah, they were murdered. One of their killers waved his bloody hands out the window as the crowd outside cheered.

Petroglyphs. Drove some scenic byways around Moab. I thought today that the giant formations remind me, in their majesty and timelessness, of cathedrals. Only designed by God. And, of course, with human-built cathedrals, you get that little bit of cringiness about the opulence.

Thanks to historian Jim Madison for this: “On July 1, 1863, just west of the town of Gettysburg, the Iron Brigade stopped the Confederate invaders. They stood like iron and suffered 61% of the casualties of the three-day battle. (cont.)

So Moab General Store is truly a wondrous place. I went in for a pair of kids’ scissors. Seem to have lost mine, and I need them for crocheting. And I bought a toy cactus in a pot that dances. The man at the register undid the bottom with a teeny screwdriver so I could buy the right kind of battery.

Songwriters & activists! June 14, Indivisible is organizing protests across the country: “No Kings!” (Same day Trump is throwing himself a big military parade.) But I say, enough standing and listening to speeches. I think we need to SING! And march!

The firemen kindly took a picture with me when I explained that our almost-3-year-old grandson likes firetrucks.

I cannot even express how good it made me feel, after Jordie was so ill a year ago, to go out to a wonderful comedy show at The Comedy Attic by W. Kamau Bell and have a good, fun, heart-opening time! I think of this picture as “Laugh Crinkles.”
