Had a conversation with Glenda Bautista-Baker, Stephanie Layser, and Helene Parker about Women in Ad Tech and the future of Ad Tech.

It was an inspiring conversation. Also learned a lot about how AI can change operations in the buying and selling of ad inventory.

I wrote a piece for @admonsters.com about floor pricing. It's such a complicated thing to understand, but like all other things ad tech, the lack of transparency is a big issue here. I've been chatting with folks about this on LinkedIn so maybe there will be a part 2 somewhere soon.
Transparency in floor pricing took center stage at Marketecture Live.

A tweet sparked a debate—but the bigger question remains: Who really controls value in programmatic?

We break down the session, the Twitter reactions, and what this means for publishers, SSPs, and buyers. #MarketectureLive

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
You Blamed DEI for Hurting Your Career. Now What?
For people who pin their failures on diversity, corporate America’s DEI retreat removes a barrier—or maybe an excuse.

The tech media’s entire schtick is that there’s some silver bullet to stop people from being mean to each other online but techies are too greedy or incompetent to find it.

The reality is humanity hasn’t figured out how to stop people from being mean or lying to each other (aka misinformation).

Today my nail tech said “I don’t know who that guy in Florida is but I’m so angry about all those laws. I want to do something.” And then she asked me to help her learn about direct actions, orgs, & resources to follow.

People are ready to organize more than I’ve seen in a long while. It’s go time.

Fairly certain that users mostly want robust APIs for alternative clients and useful tooling, and would happily trade away federation for better privacy and safety features.

Federation has mostly been a mess on Mastodon, and people cling to heavily moderated servers that defederate aggressively.
