Suffering side effects of shingles and pneumonia vaccination, so needed a good laugh today! 1871 census entry for James Hill Taylor, Biggin Street, Loughborough #OnePlaceStudy at the Red Lion, where he was apparently the 'bunkeeper'! Perhaps they had bunfights at this long-gone thatched inn?!

There's some magic happening up at Loughborough's local hill!! Pop up to Beacon Hill and enjoy a wide variety of sculptures, while keeping an eye out for 70 little tree people!! More on my #OnePlaceStudy blog! lynneaboutloughborough.blogspot.com/2025/09/up-b...

Wondering if anyone can help, please? This phrase "noon lighting" is new to me! Does it mean more people out and about in town at midday? Or something else? It surely can't mean street lighting on in the daytime! Apologies for blurriness. Many thanks!!!

Oh my goodness, the blog about Loughborough, my #OnePlaceStudy just broke the 1 million views barrier! So hard to believe, but super pleased!!

Is this BlueSky age check for real?? So I have to either let something scan my face, or my credit card?? I'd be grateful for some advice, please!

Oh bless! That's a photo from 2016! Here's a more recent one - and it really isn't that vibrant!

I've worn this so much it now has millions of holes in the back - but I still wear it! Bought a new one in black, but sadly the adult size XS was still way too big!

A bit late to the party, but finally reading The Full English! Super writing, as ever @stuartmaconie.bsky.social Pleased to see mention of the Hull Larkin trail on pg.43 @plsoc.bsky.social @philippullen.bsky.social So far we've visited Soton and Bristol, two cities I know reasonably well!

First full day with this new fashion accessory, which has completely changed my morning routine!! In the next 90 days I'll be road-testing to the nth degree, going to talks, concerts, parties, coffee dates, museums, & the cinema. Walking with OH I'll expect to hear every word he says! #daunting

Tea and cake, ooops sorry, meant proofreading time!! Coffee and walnut cake was delicious though! #Millies #Barrow-upon-Soar #Loughborough

Looks like the last bastion of the free-to-read, without cookies and without needing to register, online newspaper has left the building. I can go to a newsagents and buy a paper without handing over my personal details but online wants to know all about me! #neverbeeninfluencedbynewspaperadsanyway

Hmmm, we seem to be growing some new and different plants in our patio pots this year! #blackcatsofbluesky !!

It's opening day of the new season down at the Old Rectory, Loughborough today! Do pop down of you can! Visiting bellringers at the parish church until 2pm as well!

All set up and raring to share some of Loughborough's history - with anyone who'll listen! #OnePlaceStudy Excitedly awaiting @philippullen.bsky.social and members of the @plsoc.bsky.social !

More tea, vicar! Love this place! Used to be a quirky museum, but now houses the [seriously contracted] public library downstairs and café and "archive room" upstairs. Apart from the former St Peter's church in Loughborough, this is one of the places where you can touch the top of the stained glass!

Two of the best slates nestled together in St Michael's churchyard, Lichfield - Welsh and Swithland! Not far from the Larkin memorial tablets @philippullen.bsky.social

Made it to a cafe I've always meant to visit, but never before managed to! They had my fav cake (coffee and walnut, thank you for asking!) but as I know I have one of these awaiting me on my return I settled for tea!

Awww, thank you! Missed the big one 5 years ago - on our way to Scotland via Carlisle but turned back as didn't want to be locked down on the motorway 😂 Still, this one is pretty mega and would at one time have given me a pension 🤣 Can the day get any better than this ...

From today the world will see me differently and treat me differently. Not sure I'm quite ready for this #officiallyelderly ! Here's the plan for most of the day!

I cannot believe that to build or extend something planning permission has to be sought and often fought for, but the complete demolition of a building simply requires the demolisher to give six weeks notice #endoftheshoppingcentre #deathofthetowncentre #UK #EastMidlands #tellmeivemisunderstood

Excited that in the next 10 days 4 local history projects I've been involved with are concluding. Some end with exhibitions, others with video shows and lasting web presence. The first exhibition opened tonight, but photos are on my camera not phone. More news later. In the meantime, here's my kitty

While reading all the #AgathaChristie novels over the past year, I have come across so many #OnePlaceStudy #Loughborough connections that I am simply gonna have to write about on my blog over the coming months. There are enough for at least 23 blogposts - that's half a year! #researchstillrequired !

Jan 2024 on t'other platform I set myself the challenge of reading one #AgathaChristie novel each week, in the order they were published. #readchristie2024 #redbooks #1977editions I am pleased to announce that I have now completed this challenge! Had to buy a couple of post-1977 ones though!!
