an experiment in performance painting and new genre, this piece was completed by having a crowd make interventions on the canvas using an oil stick, box cutter, and hammer while i was out of the room and out of sight.

fall 2024
a vertical 2 by 3 painting of two hands reaching towards each other, using green and naturalistic skin tones. they are both stylized lightly to be slightly off proportionally in the direction of making them thicker, but are rendered with detail, the top hand more than the bottom, which has an illustrative outline of green paints on inner details. the background is covered in grey rain like drips. the same painting, standing upright but destroyed via cutting. portions of the broken wooden stretcher bars poke through, and the entire painting is defaced with red pigment stick, with fast doodles and smeared writing of both support and the writing of blurred out names.

the piece that started me on my current style of painting, the entire time painting it i was terrified it would crumble apart in front of me. everything you love is on the other side of fear.
