I have been resurrecting my piano playing, and I am very interestd in learning more #scottish #irish and #celtic music. Last Monday we enjoyed a Scottish “session” with musicians. I plan to put together a songbook for my family with words and melodies. Send me your suggestions on music to include!

Happy Friday! We’re gardening here today! My granddaughter sends love

Today we took our granddaughter to Brookside Gardens, which we do about 6 times a year. As we walked along a shallow creek bed we saw this bird snatch a fish from the creek. I snapped a couple of photos in a dark shady area. I didn’t recognize the bird, but it is a green heron.

The snow peas on the new trellises had their first blooms today. Yesterday I planted our tomato, cucumber and custard squash seedlings with fennel and oregano companions. I’ll wait till June to set put basil, eggplant, and beans.

We started by eliminating pachysandra in the front yard and then creating 2 raised beds for veg and herbs. Took a year-2 to learn the light and climate. Last year we too the plunge: 20x20’ raised bed structure (pinned post) and 5’ native swath along corners; berry slope+more. Shade glade.

We just got our small waterfall and pond running. Love the sound and the grandkids splashing their toes in. We had to remove lots of pickerel weed.
