#OscarandAlfie are pretending they weren't just having a huge play fight on the sofa. They've been out and they've had cuddles. It's work time now boys.

"Who me, Mum? That wasn't me! Must have been some other ginger Labrador jumping all over Oscar."

Welcome to my Valentine's Day short story for 2024. As always it's freely available and there's a pdf on my website so please share as much as you like. A respectable MP, a disreputable lord and a Manxwoman. Have fun.

Day 9 of #HistFicXmas asks which historical era I write about. It's well known that I'm a Napoleonic girl through and through with the Peninsular War Saga and the Manxman but in my early days I wrote a Victorian and a 16th century romance so I can break out occasionally...

In completely unrelated news to anything #histfic, I want one of these gnome sweatshirts. Just look at the cuteness of this. Am I a child? Yes. Do I care? No. I'm getting one.

Day 7 of #HistFicXmas asked if I prefer to write about summer or winter. I write about events in whatever season they happened to take place but some of my best scenes are set in winter weather. Marching an army through a muddy retreat or a freezing coach journey in winter...

#histficxmas day 6 is a simple question. Am I a winter or summer person?

Definitely prefer summer. I don't mind the winter weather so much but the constant darkness really gets me down. I like long, light evenings.

On to Day 3 of #histficxmas and which of my books would make great Christmas gifts? The answer is any of them 🤣🤣🤣
However, I'd recommend the first book in either series for anybody new to my books. Or if you have a Regency romance fan in your life, either of my Regencies would be good.

#HistFicXmas day2.
Currently working on book 9 of the #PeninsularWarSaga. Set during 1813 when Wellington's army is poised to invade France. Good for Major-General van Daan but not for Colonel Bonnet on the other side of that border.

Welcome to my 2023 Christmas short story, a romance set well before the start of the Peninsular War Saga though my readers will recognise these characters. As always it's free so share as much as you like.

And on a windy day on the Isle of Man the new book was finally released into the wild and is going very well so far...

Only one more sleep to the publication of An Unattainable Stronghold - book 8 of the Peninsular War Saga. In 1813, Wellington's army finally approach the French border but the coastal fortress of San Sebastian is still in French hands...

We try not to let Alfie sit in the living room during daylight hours as he has to be constantly vigilant in case a dog walks past and needs to be told. Oscar is just snoozing of course. Welcome to #WritingWithLabradors...

@rsmcarter.bsky.social Hello there, fancy seeing you over here...
I'm not sure if you're aware of it, but there is an understanding, pioneered by @garius.bsky.social that you should celebrate your arrival here by offering a #proofofcat photo. Or dog, if that's all you can manage...

Just finished the latest chunk of final edits on An Unattainable Stronghold, book 8 of the Peninsular War Saga. Very excited for publication on Nov 1st.

OMG somebody just said it's National Daughters Day. What a marvellous opportunity to remind everybody about my wonderful - if slightly eccentric - daughter. Also I can post what I like, she's not on here yet.

Very excited about the upcoming publication of An Unattainable Stronghold, book 8 of the Peninsular War Saga. It's 1813 and Van Daan's brigade are close to the French border, with the Battles of the Pyrenees, the storming of San Sebastian and the combat at Vera... #histfic

I can't do proof of cat for @garius.bsky.social without stealing a friend's cat. Proof of Labrador will simply have to do here.

For a minute there I thought some bastard had nicked my Muppets editing ruler, then I realised that my Rifleman bear was sitting on it. Phew.

Never mess with an author's editing ruler.

Thank you. Needless to say they're mine too...

The doggos are well though you might not have heard about Alfie's latest exploit in which he found romance with my friend's Labradoodle whom nobody realised was in season... You can just about see the really ginger one in the middle there.
