I know someone who needs surgery. They applied for an Access card (age 64, no job, no insurance), got a card but were denied the surgery.
Horrible.

We referred many people to pantries, churches, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, etc.,when their food stamps ran out. (Retired welfare office supervisor.)
These community agencies network. Get on any lists you can. There are still good people out there. 😊

Don’t confuse this with the public’s condemnation of what SNAP recipients can buy with food stamps (soda, candy, etc.). And yes, look at that. It’s a “Nutritional” program. You don’t walk out of a food bank with junk food.
This is about gutting benefits. Massively.
