Deputy Lyndsay Feltham
@lyndsayfeltham.bsky.social
Minister for Social Security in Government of Jersey, Deputy Leader of Reform Jersey, Member of States Assembly of Jersey, representing St. Helier Central.
Today marks the UN Day for Countering Hate Speech.

Whether it’s racism, transphobia, ableism or any form of hate—none of it belongs in Jersey.

I’ll keep using my voice in government to push for inclusion, dignity and fairness.

To correct today’s @jerseyeveningpost.com.web.brid.gy

You don’t have to sell your home to get Income Support.

If you live in a suitably sized home, its value is not counted when we assess your claim.

Having a mortgage doesn’t automatically mean you’re not eligible to get help with living costs.

It was a real privilege to speak at the @unitetheunion.bsky.social reps seminar today alongside my @reformjersey.bsky.social colleagues.

During #VolunteersWeek, we recognise the vital role union reps play — often in their own time — supporting fairness in the workplace.

Today I’m proposing P.30/2025 — a small but meaningful change to make it easier for Islanders with a terminal illness, and their carers, to access financial support.

Bringing compassion and support when it’s needed most.

A quote in the JEP this weekend said Jersey needs better-paid politicians or we’re heading for a “leadership crisis.”

Let’s talk about what that really means. 👇

1/ On this day in 2018, Deputy Geoff Southern was removed from his post as Assistant Minister for Social Security — for backing public sector workers during a pay dispute.

It was a clear message: speaking up came at a cost.

I’m looking forward to attending the @RNIB #BrailleAndBeyond event at Jersey Library on Wednesday (21 May, 11am–3pm).

A great opportunity to explore how braille and assistive tech support blind and partially sighted islanders.

I was pleased to be able to sign a Ministerial Order this week to modernise Jersey’s income support law to better reflect our modern society and remove outdated references to conjugal relationships

The transformation of the playgrounds at Parade Gardens shows the strength of our parish system. I raised the issue of the outdated play facilities and funding, at our Rates Assembly in 2023. Less than 2 years later my daughter and friends spent hours playing on this new facility

Today, I signed the Ministerial Order to increase Jersey’s minimum wage from £11.64 to £13 per hour, from 1st April 2025. A significant step towards a living wage for all. I’m proud to deliver on a @reformjersey.bsky.social manifesto pledge and will continue to champion steps that support workers.
