The world can be harsh and difficult. It's just elementary particles in fields of force. There's no rhyme or reason to it. But it's all there is. We shouldn't turn away from this fundamental fact but embrace it, and learn to live where we actually live, not where we wish we lived.

I like this. The final touches that really sparked complex language, wide scale naming of the world, and even self awareness likely comes from culture ramping up 3000-30000 years ago. Evolution may have made sapiens excellent communicators, sociable, and more intelligent. Culture did the rest.
