Mom. Anti-racist. Anti-fascist. Pro-migrant. Pro-choice. Ally. Tangata Tiriti. I believe that Black Lives Matter and that Trans folk deserve peace and safety. Toitū te ao Māori mō ake tonu atu rā.
This beauty showed up in downtown Charlottesville during the protest. I'm taking it as a sign of support.

I don't think that this is what any of us voted for - Republican or Democrat.

If you make between $28,600 and $157,500/year, your taxes will INCREASE-on average, up to $1,530. While services decline dramatically.

If you make more than $914,900/year, your tax bill will DECREASE by $36,320.

What do you call it when someone takes power and money from Congress (and their States) - and then demands loyalty in exchange for a return of a small part of that money?

'Cause that's where we are now.

When protests are deemed "emergencies" and "acts of terror" and protestors are called "terrorists" - what will you believe? What will you do?

Be prepared.

Yep - that's what I always suspected. Military academies are secretly bastions of Woke Leftist Ideology.

From 2020. Extrapolate as you wish.

There's some real pain happening right now in the Heartland.

And, honestly, I'm not happy about it. We will all feel it sooner or later.

Someone is probably livid about this.

Doublespeak is language that avoids or shifts responsibility, language that is at variance with its real or purported meaning..." - Oxford Reference

A year ago, I was at Waitangi and had planned to be there again this year. Alas, events in the US require my presence here instead.

Nevertheless, my heart is with everyone at Waitangi today, Tāngata Whenua and Tāngata Tiriti.

Because of someone's hissy fit, we can look forward to much more expensive (quality) coffee, cut flowers, bananas, avocados, pineapples, limes, sugar, oil, coal, textiles...

Pretty sure this isn't going to help the economy - or my mood in the morning.

I am well aware of the many ways in which we have failed to be what we promised to be.

But those promises are -for the most part- righteous (e.g., equality, freedom from oppression).

It is hard to imagine a more un-American value than fascism.

Be a patriot.

"If so-and-so told you to jump off a cliff would you do it?"

Even when I was a kid I understood two of the underlying messages here: (1) can so-and-so actually order you to do something? and (2) don't do something harmful no matter who tells you to do it.

Don't jump before you KNOW that you must.

The immense pain and fear rippling through the country today is just beginning - and many of those in pain voted for it.

The overwhelming shotgun approach is no accident. It IS hard to remain calm under threat.

As best you can: review your power, make (or keep to) your plan, narrow your focus as needed to be effective, and SIT IN YOUR COMMUNITY.

Trust that others are working in their lanes.

The 14th Amendment is clear: birthright citizenship must be protected. See comments below for a link to a quick way to share your support with Congress.

In DC on Friday and visited the National Museum of the American Indian. If you haven't yet been, make a plan to go. It is eye-opening.

I also recommend the Fry Bread Taco.
