My beloved was an avid cyclist. For his 70th bday I booked a cycling trip around Cape Breton - all 298 km uphill both ways. His dream tho was to cycle the Appalachian Trail from his home state of N Carolina to NY. It never happened.

So, here, my Love, I'm doing it virtually.

#GriefWorks: Day 125

I call it "Seagulling":

When "good friends" swing by to drop off condolences, then soar off - never to be heard from again.

#Distress-Tolerance is a good skill to cultivate if we're sincere about supporting family & friends through loss.

Onion baji
Chana masala

There is nothing that can train resilience to grief. It is an emotional amputation akin to a physical one. The only difference is its invisibllity.

#GriefWorks
Because grief is a natural reaction to profound loss — not a mental illness — it has often been excluded from policy aimed at supporting mental health. This is a mistake, writes Paul Adams, co-chair of the Canadian Grief Alliance.
Why Canada Needs to Do More to Support People Grieving | The Tyee
The UK, Australia and Ireland all have systems to help people process grief. Canada doesn’t.
