Two weeks later those same two guys in the same car showed up and again tried to open our front door. This time they left a cheap generic church leaflet.

the explanation the cops gave us? those two guys were church solicitors. obviously a story they had came up with on the spot that the cop was dumb enough to believe. after arguing with the cop on the phone for a few minutes he eventually dismissed me with "there's nothing to prove any ill intent".

my partner called her dad who told her to call the police. We did, and they said they would send an officer out right away. Maybe 30 minutes later we got a call from the officer who had caught up with the would-be robbers a bit up the street trying the same shit at a different house.

We watched from the windows as they walked the entire perimeter of the property and then tried to open our front and back doors which were thankfully locked. I kept a close eye on them while my partner wrote down their description and the license plate of the car

a number of years ago I was living on the outskirts of a small town with my partner at the time. We weren't entirely isolated, but it was definitely rural. The two of us were home by ourselves when a car pulled into our driveway and two dudes with masks and blue latex gloves stepped out.
