that time during the first lockdown in april 2020 when we all went a bit mad with the baking and i took it upon myself to make the Biggest Emergency Crunchie In The World™️

(it was bigger than my head)

Marina the saluki lurcher rescue dog lies on the spare bed in my office. She's lying on her navy blankie and is covered with a check blankie. She's fast asleep because Mondays are of no concern to her, she doesn't pay the bills. Pillows and cushions on the bed are in disarray from her digging on the bed because she doesn't have to do laundry either.

A fluffy corgi style doggie standing on the wooden floor of the lodge we're staying in. It's looking over its shoulder at me as if to say "I see you, friend." The corgi approaches my leg for a sniff. The corgi is lying down next to the stairs, paws up, waiting for scritches, which i have willingly given.

My niece, who's helping is a kitchen star but Marina is ZERO help
An oilcloth covered table bearing bowls of prepped apples, lemons, bags of sugar and a bowl of foraged blackberries. A large stainless steel pot on the cooker in which apples, sugar, lemon juice and spices bubble away. Marina lies on the living room rug, asleep.
