Writer, wanderer, wonderer, always curious to learn more. Knows a smattering about much, but not much about anything.

Worried about biodiversity loss. What's happening is one big horror story.

8. Anyway, please remember, amid all the noise about the prisons crisis, that it is caused not by rising crime or rising population. It is caused by rising demands from people who do not represent this country and do not have our interests at heart. Thank you. 8/8

My husband said the same last night. 'You got to wonder if any of those people lived in those houses 😄'

I was so pleased that finding these things had made him happy.

That's good to know x

The child in me has always wanted one - Tom's Midnight Garden perhaps? They've always felt like magical objects

That's very kind of you to say this.

Since childhood I always wanted the stories behind things people treasured. I used to pester my old neighbours, going through things on their mantelpieces & asking them questions!

What will I keep in the bureau, I wonder? And what has been treasured inside it before, over its 300 year old history?

So have I - despite it being quite a saga!

I thought the photo looked like someone young - so it makes sense - & very sweet as you say.
But we can't uncover the full story 😄

It was a joy to uncover 😀

I'm so glad the old man enjoyed seeing these things again.

And the clock was somehow unavoidable 😄 Especially with two brown & white dogs on its face.

Meanwhile the old man is holding on to the treasures - the letter, the stamp, the coin collection, locket, sovereign purse & much more - as they have given him pleasure & prompted good memories.

And I have acquired his old longcase clock (not working😄) in my efforts to downsize 😬

...was more precious than the gold coins.
Though I understand the old man's school career was not an illustrious one, since despite attending somewhere quite exclusive, he was expelled! The friend was perhaps a partner in crime 😄

In your flat or in the house you're trying to renovate?

...the photo of the young man inside an envelope with a first name on it - no one in the family knew who this person was.
The old man recognised him immediately with huge pleasure - the photo was of his best friend at school - he kept saying 'He's number one, the best'.
A memory of a dear friend

I missed your reply, Kate - don't know why. I'm surviving at least. How are things with you?
