Back in the early 2000s, I was given a Win 2000 pc that came with. Pile of floppy discs. On one of those discs was DOTT. A point-and-click adventure from LucasArts that had that 90’s humour which was great. If you can look beyond the bizarre logic, I’d recommend it to anyone

This is going to sound of but FP is my comfort game. It’s the one game I will go back to again and again if I’m having a bad day and I just want to switch my brain off for a while. The story is great and making sure your people survive is a great feeling.

I don’t usually like horror. Or jumpscares. Faith has both. Yet I love this series. Why? Maybe it’s the 8-bit style. Maybe it’s the story. Maybe because the creator knows that jumpscares work when they’re not cheap. Faith is a great set of games well worth the time.

You want wacky? You want 90’s Japanese trivia? You want mini-games? IC has it all. It’s mad, makes no sense whatsoever and is as fun as all hell! …Just don’t play it on an emulator, you’re likely to freeze on the trolley dash level.

It’s one of those games that divided the community but I like DoC when I first played it; the 2nd shooter I played after Gungrave, I enjoyed running around as Vincent and learning the mechanics. Helped that I was a big fan of Gackt at the time. Redemption is still great

How have I not mentioned Journey yet? This game is a beautiful, serene game with possibly one of my favourite soundtracks of all time [of whch I own in like... four or five different formats]. I bought a Ps3 jsut so I could play the game and it remains one of my fave games to this day.

Back on the Ps1, BTN was my first farming sim. It was charming and not too hard to get used to. I loved feeding the animals and chasing the stray dogs off the farn. I also related to Mary, the sweet and shy librarian who loves books.

Ah, Isaac. The game we love to hate and hate to love. And yet, at almost 1000 hours I keep coming back to it. Why? Maybe it’s the RNG of two runs never being the same, maybe it’s the slow progress and unlocking of 600+ achievements… whatever it is, it has me.

Perhaps less well known at the time, I found a copy of Gungrave in a shop as a kid for like… £8. A third-person shooter that has infinite ammo, it’s perhaps the only shooter game i actually enjoyed. It’s stylish, great to look at and the ending theme is a bop.

I was gonna talk MHW but no, I’ll talk about the MH that got me back into the series. I had, upto this point, a spotty history with MH. I had the OG on Ps2 but the Rathian scared my so much as a child I never touched it again for years. I never owned a PsP [1/?]

Originally read about this in the UK PlayStation magazine and then spent another 4 years chasing down a copy. Another RPG, I wasn’t disappointed in the least with the wonderful story, the catchy af music and the characters are great. I also threw 100s of hours at fishing.

BB was my first toe dip into the Souls-like genre, although oddly enough I played the remake of BB first. I never thought I would like a Souls game as much as I did and yet I fell in love with Yharham and all it had to give. That rush after beating a boss was hard to beat.

My first ever FF, it got me into the series as a child and I loved it for its story, characters and music. I even own an official Vivi plush.
