Had my first attending urgent care shift and y'all everybody has Hand foot and mouth.

It's a highly contagious, very common, often painful rash caused by a Coxsackie virus.

Be safe out there!

Hand Foot & Mouth Disease (HFMD)

What is HFMD?
HFMD is a common disease found mainly in young children under 5 years old, but anyone can get it.

What you need to know
HFMD is spread through close contact by people who have it. The illness is not usually serious, but it is very contagious. It spreads quickly at schools and daycare centers.

Prevention
Wash your hands, especially before you touch your face.
Don't hug, kiss, share food/drinks, or touch people who have it.
Clean and disinfect anything someone with HFMD has touched.

Symptoms
HMD can cause a lot of pain! It's best to just avoid it altogether!
You can get painful sores in your mouth.
You can get a skin rash on your body which sometimes has blisters.

If you do get HFMD, you can treat your symptoms to help with the pain and itching. You should get better in 7 to 10 days. Make sure to rest, drink lots of water, and avoid spreading it to others!

See a doctor if the person with HFMD:
• Isn't getting better
• Isn't drinking enough water
• Has a weak immune system
• Is under 6 months old

Dear Parents and Families of DC Public Schools (DCPS),DCPS is committed to ensuring the safety of our school communities. Part of that commitment involves preventative measures when needed to safeguard students, staff, and spectators during athletic competitions.
Football games are a time-honored tradition, and for decades, DCPS has brought communities together to celebrate school spirit and cheer on our student-athletes. We know how important these moments are for our schools, and we want to keep them safe and enjoyable for everyone. Following multiple instances of spectator conflict, I am reaching out today to communicate updated protocols for DCPS football games, which will remain in place through at least Friday, October 10, 2025.
Effectively immediately, the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA) will implement the following changes:
1. Limited Spectators - Spectators will be limited to adults or students accompanied by an adult chaperone. For each adult chaperone, no more than three students will be admitted to the game. There will be no entry after the 3rd quarter ends.
2. No Re-entry - Once a spectator leaves the field or stadium, staff will reinforce the existing protocol that does not permit spectators to return to the game.
3. Concession Sales - Concession sales will end promptly at the end of the 3rd quarter. We suggest getting your snacks and drinks earty in the game to ensure you do not miss the opportunity.
4. Adjusted Schedules - For the next month and to the extent possible, schools will attempt to reschedule games to start earlier in the afternoon between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., rather than the typical start time of 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Additionally, schools may reschedule Friday games to be hosted on Thursday or Saturday.

MPD blocking ppl under 18 from entering Union Station. ICYMI, DC kids ride public transit free rather than school buses. Sooo not only are 🐷 assaulting them as they leave school, but they're actively preventing them from getting home.

Multiple community members have written in this afternoon reporting that students under the age of 18 are not being allowed to enter Union Station as of today.
