The cast alone is worth the price of admission, even with the ridiculous names. Gene Hackman as…Avery Tolar?

Absolutely. I have been watching a lot of ‘90s films lately, and, I don’t think I realized it at the time, but that era represented the peak of a certain type of big budget prestige picture, A Few Good Men being a perfect example. Even mediocre films from that era have their distinct pleasures.

I’m so confused by the plethora of Star Wars shows and their continuity or lack thereof. Do I need to have watched any of them to watch Andor or does it stand alone?

Peak ‘90s Hollywood. Endlessly rewatchable.

Stand By Me was such a seminal film for me. I was probably too young to see it when I did, but my unsuspecting grandmother bought me the VHS tape and I watched it over and over. It’s one of those films that is just inextricably linked to my childhood, and a great film to grow with.

Yeah, definitely not as dire as I feared. I think Howard is genuinely funny. Overall, a little too much Goober and a few too many shows with Aunt Bea playing the fool, though. I even kind of warmed up to Warren by the end of his time on the show.

After a lifetime of avoidance, I finally decided to tackle the color seasons of The Andy Griffith Show and was delighted to see Reiner show up in an episode. Unfortunately, the rest of the episode was all about Goober.

This news is just unspeakably sad. What a terrible, senseless loss.

I must do my duty and see this
