Update day in the world of Honkai: Star Rail. Everything's so pink! Wasted a lot of passes on Castorice, who I don't plan on using. Then I treated myself to Numby & Topaz with the free token.

Confusingly, the button mappings on PS5 changed. Kept trying to attack and running into enemies instead.

We also finally got to actually visit Okan (Japanese restaurant) at the South Bank. Really tasty, highly recommended, and the retro decor is gorgeous. Here's a picture of my extremely hearty 'truffle king mushroom' okonomiyaki.

A red plate upon which Japanese okonomiyaki has been served. The okonomiyaki includes sweetcorn and has a fried egg on top of it, drizzled with okonomiyaki sauce. Also on top (and below) the okonomiyaki are king oyster mushrooms dressed in spicy miso paste and some cress. Truffle mayonnaise is smeared over the rest of the plate to add extra flavour (there was also a yuzu soy ponzu dip, not pictured). The meal was served at the Okan restaurant in London's South Bank area (County Hall).

We also went to Japan Centre while we were in London to check out their expanded new ground floor space. It's strange to get used to it having an extra area and most of the important stuff is still downstairs. The Dragon Quest tie-in was underway so we enjoyed looking at blue donuts and decorations.

A table of mochi doughnuts at Japan Centre, with most of them being ordinary-looking aside from the column of garishly bright blue Dragon Quest 'slime' doughnuts covered in pretty sprinkles and lurid blue icing. Naturally, the user bought one of those.

Here's everything I bought at the Animate pop-up today. I was quite restrained! I feel like a bit of a jerk putting the Ivan magnet on my fridge but I'm going to do it anyway.

They had some good blind bags too and because it's Animate, they're guaranteed to be filled with decent items instead of a bunch of bargain bin Funko Pops like all of the blind bags at MCM. Please don't @ me for disliking Funko Pops, my opinion on this cannot be changed.

Finally home and rested (not) and unpacked after my visit to the Animate London pop-up store. It was pretty good! Didn't buy too much but that's not a bad thing, and the prices were generally better than MCM (and the regular London shops) - not that beating regular London pricing is difficult.

The view from close to the front of the queue for the pop-up Animate store in London Waterloo. The shop is compact and there was a steady flow of excited customers being guided through the queue before being allowed inside (visit took place the Saturday after it launched, shortly after it opened for the day). The glass window display has an Animate banner and small posters for the various promotional campaigns (e.g. buy two Evangelion items, receive a free Animate shopping bag) that were being offered. There were also larger posters below which were hidden by the queue.

The bulk of the merchandise on sale was blind boxed: acrylic stands, magnets, badges and trading cards. That which wasn't was mostly stationery with the occasional t-shirt or character outfit (and the ubiquitous Witch Watch tea towels we saw at Hyper Japan too). Many popular series were represented (especially gacha games and shounen anime titles) and there was a decent selection of CLAMP merchandise too, as well as a few less modern/mainstream titles in between the big headliners. The photograph shows a selection of CLAMP manga goodies like clear files.

A photograph of around 1/3 of the Honkai: Star Rail items on sale at the London Animate pop-up store. Strangely, it was all quite 'old' merchandise for characters from the first couple of arcs in the game. There was a lot of it though so fans of Seele, Luocha, Blade etc. were all well served.

Purchases from day 3 of MCM Comic Con (October 2025). Whew! I'm exhausted. Artist details in replies.

On the left side of the photograph are two acrylic photocard holders and a Deltarune Tenna sticker, all from the artist Pippin Truman. To the right is a holographic charm of Ivan from Alien Stage which switches between two different illustrations of him, from Elena (Elemoli). Below it is an ingenious acrylic clip of Sussie from Kpop Demon Hunters which can 'perch' on various things, from Yokaiihime. There is also a funny acrylic stand of the characters Numby, Topaz, Aventurine and Dr. Ratio from Honkai: Star Rail all stacked on top of one another, from 丽丽.

Purchases from day 1 of MCM Comic Con (October 2025). I went a little crazy because I'm changing jobs and extremely stressed out.

There is also a Locked Tomb fanzine/sketchbook by calipygos of De Billenmaatjes collective.

Three silly acrylic photocard holders from Gelly. One says 'WANTED', one says 'silly little guy' and one says 'PATHETIC MAN'. I bought seven photocards and need to allocate some of them to holders! There are five photocards from 丽丽: Anaxa, Cyno, Blade, Jiaoqiu covered in hearts and a premium Lyney with a lovely finish. Then there are two more Anaxa photocards, one from lina and the other from oats.

Lots of prints all from the same artist, 丽丽, who drew Sunday and Robin as children, shiny foil-embossed versions of Sunday and Robin as the twins from Oshi No Ko (what a great crossover!), a smaller print of Sunday and the Xianzhou Yaoqinq trio taking care of one another. I really like Sunday so finding this artist was great! The picture also includes a heart-warming Undertale print of most of the main characters by Rein Lee, a bookmark of Minthara from Baldur's Gate 3 by Kyoto's Party, plus cute/silly Genshin/Honkai: Star Rail stickers and (naughty) English-language doujinshi/fanzines from lina.

I was having a hard day due to work yesterday, then I came home and finally got to hard pity on the light cone banner in Honkai: Star Rail. And lost the 75:25 gamble, obtaining Welt's light cone! I was so stressed out that I broke and bought some jade, finally achieving my goal. No more pulling!

What a varied day in the world of Honkai: Star Rail gacha pulls. Three new-to-me characters in total because if I can lose a 50:50, I always will. I am now broke so I hope the next banners will be rubbish.

New figure deliveries from the last week! I won't be buying any more large figures for a while. Still waiting on two Nendoroids I've had on preorder since forever (Bladie and Sunday) which still haven't arrived. I hope they'll still fit on the shelf...

A mediocre photograph showing the newly released figure of the jiang-shi character Lei-Lei (Hsien-Ko) from the Vampire (Darkstalkers) game series. It's a bishoujo figure based on Yamashita Shunya's artwork so she's looking very cute. The box was enormous and her figure has a lot of weight to it thanks to the sleeves! Strangely, her hat is removable but I don't recommend it since her hair isn't designed for display underneath it.

A very unflattering picture of the Nendoroid version of Okazaki Kei (from the game Collar x Malice). He is holding a gun and has his jacket lazily slung over one shoulder, the way he wears it in the original game. The figure is surrounded by lots of clutter from the user's shelves (they will be very impressed if anyone can name all of the other figures partially in shot).

Flins came home in sixty pulls which was nice. Shame that I do better at getting characters in games I'm not actively playing!

We resubscribed to Dropout a few days ago to watch the most recent season of Game Changer and my cat was extremely excited to see a cat who looked just like her playing an important role. It's very cute whenever she runs across the room and jumps on the table to watch television at close range.

I have a self control problem.

A Tesco 'Birthday Cake Sandwich' in the wild. It is a limited edition lunch sandwich of questionable nutritional value; white bread with strawberry jam, icing and sugar filling. I felt my blood sugar spiking unpleasantly just looking at the cursed thing.

We have had a glow-in-the-dark cardboard skeleton hanging out in our living room for the last couple of years (because skeletons are cool) and I just noticed that its face was recently 'upgraded'. Apparently my spouse did it this morning in secret to surprise me because he calls it Papyrus.
