Always this. After 2016, thinking through the psychology causing so many to be so easily swayed by propaganda and away from logic, democratic values, and human decency… a mindset rooted in fear. A tyrant’s playbook - supply them with fears, and the notion that you’re the only one who can help.

- Explosion and celebration of narcissistic “me first” mindset via social media that younger generations have grown up with as normalized.

Maybe this is all unavoidable cyclic civilizational collapse… natural entropy of late-stage democracy or something.

Humans are weird.

- Abandonment of logic and critical thinking in favor of conspiracy and fantasy.
Huge resurgence of tribalism and fear-based politics spread far and wide by media controlled by tyrannical bad actors. Much of this enabled by enablement of PACs, citizens united, corrupt money in politics in general.

- Urban flight, population growth in areas that lack exposure to different cultures, backgrounds, races, etc.

- Lack of focus on education, intelligence, and kindness in popular culture, role models.

I’m not sure but def multi-faceted and I think about it a lot.

- Large generational time gap since WWII, history not taught thoroughly enough for people to understand the cost of society that doesn’t care for its citizens without experiencing it themselves.
