Continuing to carry the cost of the leftover inventory is an expensive sunk cost. Getting it out of warehouses and off the books and donating the proceeds to local charities is something I am happy to get behind.

Manitoba has also subtlely acknowledged the economic benefit of hosting data centres and they have the cleaner energy and higher volumes of water to make them viable.

Carney has a PhD from Oxford. I think he knew exactly what he was doing with his MOU and the impossible bar it set in terms of First Nations and BC agreement. The rest is a delicate balance between immediate trading partner diversification and longer term sustainable economic growth.

Without even reading the article, they need our water. When drought and wildfire are spiking and harming our existing industries and municipalities. We can't afford to burn one plus litres of our fresh water per query. Nowhere on the planet can.

It's really pretty funny. Hoekstra threatens to inconvenience the few still traveling to the US to punish those who have chosen not to and will be blissfully affected. Another example of the US government great business sense.
