the reprisals carried out after the war. Also my mother at least could claim a Croatian passport due to ancestry since it is 3 Generations after,maybe also myself as well,but I am not sure. And the criteria is having lived at the territory,which is today Croatia. The Danube Swabs 4/?

Today there are around 10K Danube Swabs in Croatia and estimated 30K with ancestry. Brothers of my great grandfathers remained,so I should also have distant relatives in Croatia. They most likely assimilated, because only those with Yugoslav wifes or part of the partisans were exempt from 3/?

German Speaking,because my great grandfather had very likely Austrian ancestry due to his last name,which was "Wiener",Wien is the German name of Vienna. These German settlers who settled in what would later become Yugoslavia are also known as the Danube Swabs. 2/?

Yes, I also have a piece of that in my family history, one of my maternal great grandfathers,who sadly passed away 3 months after I was born, and he was from Croatia to be more precise the capital Zagreb and fled during WW2, because he was part of the German speaking minority.1/?

studies, because it is a blindspot here and also for myself and will also not take Russian,but Czech and BCMS(Bosnian,Croat,Montenigrin,Serbian) as my languages and cultures I will study.

In Germany education is on a state by state basis, I live in Baden-Württemberg and the only Slavic Language that you can learn at a minority of schools is Russian. I like refer to it as the iron curtain in the heads. This is also one of the reasons once I graduate this year is to study slavic 3/?

The languages of Polish,Hungarian and Romanian most people would not be able to answer that question. This is also gets reinforced by school,where the second language taught is a romanic language,you get the Choice between Latin and French and the third foreign language is usually Spanish. 2/?

I am from Germany and I think there are certain attitudes that are still somewhat common that people have racist beliefs towards people from "eastern europe". There also is knowledge gap around the culture, if you ask people the basic question what is the difference between 1/?

So I just looked up if the US has ratified and signed the UN-Convention on the right of the child and the US is the only UN member not being a member to sign it,similar case with the one on persons with disabilities. That explains a lot. I know that the US has the ADA for disabled people at least.

And while we had 2 school shootings,our politicians did not sit idle,as an exampleafter the Erfurt School Shooting in 2002,they tightended gun laws,such as raising the minimum age to purchase from 18 to 21 and requiring psychosocial evaluation for people under 25.

And the guns need to be stored in special containers with locks, the authorities do a check up unannounced regularly,each weapon needs to be registered and if you committed a crime,no gun for you. You also need to visit courses and take tests to show you can handle guns safely. 2/?

This is so insane hearing this, I am not American,grew up in Germany. We have really strict laws,you can only get a gun,if you are a hunter(for which you also need a hunting license),do it as a sport,or you are working at a money transport. 1/?

Better example would be F1NN5ter,not up do date on their pronouns, but literally funding HRT for trans people in the UK and beyond,which includes a fund for people who can not pay for HRT.

I saw a documentary once(in German) and Historians worked with deaf people to get more out of a video source without sound. Though you can not read everything from the lips. Funnily enough,I am deaf,but a special case, because I am on the spectrum and I can not hold eye contact,so I did not learn it
