Ok, cool, if I may ask then, why are you here? did you have a bad day and needed to call someone names?

That aside, I will say this, the reason I'm not as harsh on this as you are is that it's a lot easier to say that someone should risk their livelihood for the cause when it's not your livelihood on the line
September 7, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Sorry if I'm not convinced that being wishy-washy about making a public statement is *just as bad* as saying that it wasn’t democrats supporting a genocide but rather leftists opposing it that got Trump back in office and Palestinian aid is pointless and achieved nothing, guess it's a me problem
September 7, 2025 at 5:04 PM
There is nuance to this, this is a conversation where reasonable minds could come to different conclusions, I’m of two minds of it myself, but again, this is in comparison to blaming dem leadership’s incompetence on people talking too much about that darn ethnic cleansing, like come on.
September 7, 2025 at 4:44 PM
To play devil’s advocate, I get the use of vague language there, it’s called trying to broach a touchy subject while not risking career suicide, is it chickenshit behavior? Yeah, but we can ask if risking career suicide to be clear on Gaza is even the most useful thing she could do with her platform
September 7, 2025 at 4:44 PM
Ok, then what has happened? what's the 'it's' in ‘confirm it's happened’?
September 7, 2025 at 4:31 PM
No, it really isn’t, is it coward shit and less than ideal? Sure, but in the context of that video and the measured tone the subject demands I do get it, and also, be for real, it’s nowhere near as bad as saying that pro Palestine advocacy achieved nothing except contributing to Trump’s reelection
September 7, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Also, “actually confirm it’s happened’ makes little sense in response to “is there context to those quotes?” confirm *what* has happened? The quotes? The context? It makes way more sense if you’re saying it as ‘you should confirm people allying with MTG on gaza has happened’
September 7, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Now, is it kinda wishy-washy and less brave than it could be? Sure, that’s a discussion that can be had, but also, is not even remotely as bad as Contrapoints’ “all of you talking about Palestine so much is why there’s a darn Cheeto in the white house now” dogshit take
September 7, 2025 at 4:14 PM
So, you mean post 1, the best I got wrt post 1 was someone else sending me her newest video, where she touched on the topic in the usual measured, kinda lib tone those videos take in context of the historical genocide of natives in the US, so yeah, those quotes had context to them
September 7, 2025 at 4:14 PM
okay, before I answer you back, what do you mean by point number one? do you mean first post 'what was the context of the quotes?' or point one in post 2 which you replied to 'she's right to say you should watch out for antisemites wrt Israel or you'll make bed fellows with nazis'?
September 7, 2025 at 3:49 PM
I'm sorry, but you're the one who came at me with "you should confirm it's actually happened", so I showed you that it did, more to the point, the question of if nazis are anti-israel in gaza for nazi reasons isn't suitably solved by "well the principled leftists aren't falling for it"
September 7, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Do you seriously not remember how when MTG spoke out against the genocide around a month ago, the dumbest morons on the planet began going "MTG is winning my respect" , "she's so brave for this" and "welcome to the resistance"? like even the WaPo got in on it www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
Opinion | I might lean left — but Marjorie Taylor Greene is winning my respect
The congresswoman, who represents my district, has shown genuine political courage lately.

Ok, that's fair, that's perfectly understandable, I have no issue there, however, please remember that "having the wrong opinion on a genocide" is a *big* accusation to be lobbing around, and putting PhilosophyTube next to Contrapoints when talking about opinions on Gaza gives a certain impression
September 6, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Finally, while I get being annoyed about her not directly releasing a video or statement on Gaza, and while we could discuss the ethics of doing or not doing that, that misses the bigger issue that the accusation was “a bad take on Gaza" and that’s not the same as “didn’t release a video/statement”
September 6, 2025 at 8:34 PM
Second, I think she’s correct in accounting for antisemitism wrt Israel; being correct about Gaza shouldn’t equal allying with the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene, even if Israel tries to launder antizionism as antisemitism, it doesn’t mean there aren’t nazis laundering antisemitism as antizionism
September 6, 2025 at 8:34 PM
Okay, I’m going to be a bit rude here, but I asked you for the bad Gaza take, not your account of what she said, I’ve seen far too many ships of Theseus, so I would like to see those quotes in their full context before I pass judgment there, because surely she didn’t say just that, now did she?
September 6, 2025 at 8:34 PM
Okay, I promise you I'm not trying to sealion you, but could you elaborate on PhilosophyTube having a bad take on the Gasa genocide? Contrapoints I get, I remember that, but I don't recall Abigail having a bad take of any kind, could you show me the bad take?

dawkins is very annoying to read because he will just state "all biologists classify things according to this universal standard" or similar & if you don't know any better you might assume that is true, until you search for it, & find biologists more qualified than he is replying "no we don't"
