Malia Thomas. Just a human who sometimes does things.
Phish is the crow in the picture and he is the brave one. He will stay within 2-3ft of me at times. Most prefer to simply watch from the roof and fly down when I am back inside. Phish also begs for raisins. If there are none he sites on the perch and crows hoping I hear to bring him some.

It can take time to have them warm up. Keeping up a schedule and being careful not to stare at them when they are eating helps. I always talk to them when they stop by. We started feeding in February this year and they are beginning to come when I call.

I’ve read that salty items and processed foods should be avoided but I also see these same crows rooting around the neighborhood trash bins given the chance. So sometimes a bit of leftovers are offered.

The things my crows seem to like the most are: cherries, blackberries, the bruised apple or pear the kid won’t eat, raisins, cut up grapes, hard boiled or scrambled egg, quail eggs, peanut butter, and unseasoned bits of meat from dinner.

Unsalted peanuts in the shell are a go too for many and as a bonus many other birds (and some little fuzzy guys) enjoy them.
